Have Your Wedding at Renfrew

Renfrew is a beautiful location for an outdoor wedding. The backyard of the 1812 Royer House is shaded and overlooks our scenic historic Pennsylvania German farmstead. $200 Wedding:

Looking for a very simple ceremony? This package provides for a small, intimate morning or afternoon Walk-up Ceremony with your closest loved ones. Recommended for groups of twenty or less including the wedding couple, officiant, attendants, and a handful of guests, Walk-Up Ceremonies take  place in designated areas of the Museum Grounds pre-approved by museum staff.  This rental provides “standing room only” and does not permit use of accessories such as chairs, altar, runner, etc.  Use of the Lion Club Pavilion is not included with this package. Rental group parking location is in the lower lot off of Welty Road only.

$300 Wedding:

Planning an outdoor ceremony only, but need seating for your guests? This package allows for limited accessories to be brought to Renfrew including chairs, altar, runner, sound equipment, or other décor with pre-approval by museum staff. Use of the pavilion or tent installation in the Museum House back yard is not permitted at this level. Rental group parking in lower lot only.

$400 Wedding:

Host both your ceremony and reception at one location. This package includes full-day use of the Museum House back yard and Lions Club Pavilion. Renters may also choose to waive use of the pavilion in favor of holding their reception under tent in the Museum House back yard. With this package, the renter is permitted full accessories and may bring their own or rented tables, chairs, décor, and/or tents to Renfrew, after requesting these in writing and obtaining permission from museum staff. Please note that Renfrew does not rent any equipment. The rental group may only park in the lower pavilion lot.

Wedding Rental Notes:

Limited Assistance: In order to maintain affordable rental rates, weddings at Renfrew Museum and Park are designed to be self-serve. No day-of event coordinator, institutional equipment, decorations, or assistance with set up/tear down is included with your rental fee.

Please note that you are reserving the designated space only. Renfrew staff will be available prior to the event to coordinate drop off of any accessories ($400 package only) during regular business hours, open and close restrooms on the day of your event, and coordinate with you or your vendors for pick up afterward. Staff is not available to transport wedding party and/or guests via Renfrew golf carts or other institutional vehicles during rentals. If members of your party have mobility concerns, it is the responsibility of the renter to request and coordinate with staff regarding plans for pick-up/drop-off of guests at the time of your reservation.

All proceeds from your wedding rental help to support our mission and operations, including keeping our 107-acre park beautiful for your special event. We thank you for considering Renfrew as your wedding venue and appreciate your support.

Security Deposits: Security deposits are required and are equal to the amount of each rental. Security deposit must be paid when reservation is made to secure your event date. Renfrew cannot pencil in or otherwise reserve a reservation until tender is exchanged. The second amount due, which is for the rental fee itself, must be paid within thirty (30) days of your event. Failure to observe Renfrew’s Park Use Policy will result in forfeit of this security deposit. After your event, we will promptly refund your initial security deposit within two (2) weeks, pending an inspection by a Renfrew staff person of the pavilion and grounds. Any damage or cost of clean-up will be deducted from the security deposit.

Ceremony Location: Ceremonies must take place in the Museum House back yard on the lawn in the area between the house and wall, unless permission is granted by staff for an alternative Walk-Up Ceremony location ($200 package only). Areas of the patio or behind (south of) the stone wall are not available for your ceremony. No staples may be used for decorations in any areas. Removal of picnic tables from pavilion area only for reception- all tables must be replaced in pavilion after event. The term “wedding” shall also include renewal of vows.

Reception Location: Applicable to $400 wedding package only. Receptions may be held in the Lions Club Pavilion on picnic tables provided or in the back yard of the Museum House with renter’s own equipment. Renfrew does not supply tables, chairs, tent, etc. (See Equipment & Accessories section for further information.) Pavilion receptions may grill on adjacent grass area provided that grills are no less than 6′-0″ from the structure. Food trucks or other outside vendors must be approved by Renfrew staff with locations identified prior to the event. No alcohol or smoking is permitted at Renfrew.

Sound: Please keep the sound level of any electronic equipment such as speakers, public announcement (PA) systems, etc. at the lowest level possible for your event, so as not to disturb other people using the park. Your assistance in keeping noise to a minimum is greatly appreciated.

Equipment & Accessories: Renfrew does not rent wedding equipment and/or accessories such as chairs, arbor, runner, tent, etc. Scheduling for delivery of any accessories by renter or vendor(s) shall be coordinated with Renfrew staff. Renter must provide staff with contact information for all vendors, including food service and caterer, no less than thirty (30) days prior to the event. Renfrew also is not responsible for securing accessories left on site before or after event. Pick-up/drop off locations of accessory must be coordinated with staff.

Photography: Permission for professional photography is included with all wedding packages for the duration of your rental. No additional fee is required for photos taken on the park grounds or Museum House porches. While most people are respectful of wedding parties, staff cannot clear designated areas or guarantee that spaces around the park will be vacant at the time of your photo session. Please share the park and building exteriors with everyone who is present enjoying Renfrew on the day of your event.

Unauthorized vehicles are not permitted outside of designated parking areas. Renters may not drive to photograph locations on park grounds. Unless given prior permission by staff due to mobility concerns, wedding party must travel to photograph locations on foot. No exceptions.

Renfrew’s Photo Policy: Photography passes are not required for professional photographers whose clients have rented Renfrew facilities, during the hours of the rental. Photographers may not interfere with any Renfrew activity, program, or event that is being held or conducted at Renfrew. Photographers may be asked to move to another area by Renfrew staff if it is deemed necessary. Renfrew reserves the right to halt any photo shoot that it deems to be inappropriate or disruptive. Please check Renfrew’s schedule of programs and events to prevent any possible conflicts.
