Celebrate the annual opening of Renfrew for its 2020 operating season on Saturday, April 18, 2020! Join us for tours, live music, historic demonstrations, ParkPals activities, art show, tag sale and so much more on our 107-acre historic Pennsylvania German farmstead in beautiful Waynesboro.
It’s Renfrew’s 45th season and we are thrilled to share this milestone with our members, supporters, and park guests! Join Renfrew while we both celebrate the past and look to the future as we continue to be a welcoming and memorable destination where everyone can walk back in time. Won’t you join us?

Schedule of Events

WHAT: Farmstead Tours
WHEN: All Day
WHERE: Royer and Fahnestock Farms
Explore Renfrew’s historic structures on two farmsteads including the 1812 Royer House, 1807 Fahnestock House, our cemetery, grist mill site, limestone kiln, barns and outbuildings. Encounter docent guides eager to share the fascinating story of Renfrew with you. Living history demonstrations offered throughout the day.
WHAT: Antietam Humane Society Adoption Meet & Greet
WHEN: All Day
WHERE: Royer Farm, Under the Kentucky Coffee Bean Tree 
Our founder, Emma Nicodemus, loved cats and in her memory we’re partnering with Antietam Humane Society to help find homes for the 120 animals currently housed at its shelter. Interact with some of these cute, furry friends and learn more about adoption opportunities. Visitors are encouraged to bring material donations on Antietam Humane Society’s Wish List in an effort to provide the animals with clean, comfortable, and safe environments.  As a thank you for your gift, you’ll receive a branded Renfrew travel water bowl (while supplies last).
WHAT: Park Pals Paw Print Activity
WHEN: 11:00am to 1:00pm
WHERE: Royer Farm, Under the Kentucky Coffee Bean Tree
Bring your dog to Renfrew Park and create a special keepsake of Opening Day 2020 with a free paw print impression using non-toxic air-dry modeling clay. Learn more about Park Pals Membership and register your pup so you both can enjoy Renfrew all year long. New Park Pals joining on Opening Day receive a branded Renfrew travel water bowl (while supplies last).
WHAT: Becky Dietrich Memorial Art Show & Sale Grand Opening
WHEN: All Day; Artists Reception from 12:00pm to 2:00pm
WHERE: Royer Farm, Visitors Center Barn – Wagon Shed Room & Gallery
Renfrew Museum and Park is honored to advance the legacy of our dear friend, artist and historian Becky Dietrich, by continuing her annual springtime show and sale. Dietrich’s past art shows have been a staple of our Opening Day festivities, bringing together works by local artists and craftspeople inspired by the rich heritage of our historic farmstead and surrounding countryside. This year we plan to honor Becky for her dedication to Renfrew and her love of local art by exhibiting several of her own works, alongside items produced by friends and fellow creatives. Join us in the Visitors Center to admire the work of talented artists and consider taking a piece or two home to enjoy. The Becky Dietrich Memorial Art Show & Sale runs through Wednesday, June 30, 2020. Learn more about Becky Dietrich’s amazing life and lasting legacy. 
WHAT: Accessions Committee Tag Sale
WHEN: All Day
WHERE: Entrance to Fahnestock Lane
Renfrew’s Accessions Committee is hosting a Tag Sale fundraiser to support museum acquisitions and collections care. Donations of select antiques, collectibles, furniture, coins, jewelry, artworks, and other exceptional valuables and home furnishings from generous individuals will be for sale at reasonable prices. Join us at the entrance to Fahnestock Lane for this new opportunity to find something special. Parking and loading areas conveniently located for easy access.
Have items you’d like to donate to the Tag Sale? Members of Renfrew’s Accessions Committee will be happy to review potential Tag Sale donations and pick up items from your home or business at your convenience. Call us at (717) 762-4723 or email info@renfrewmuseum.org. Renfrew’s Accessions Committee reserves the right to accept or decline items for sale in accordance with the Tag Sale’s guidelines.
WHAT: Musical Performance by Mountain Air
WHEN: 11:00am to 1:00pm
WHERE: Royer Farm, Visitors Center – Gallery
Eclectic string ensemble Mountain Air will perform a two-hour set for Opening Day guests inside Renfrew’s Visitors Center Gallery. Enjoy mixed genre music by this talented local trio from Blue Ridge Summit and south central Pennsylvania. 
WHAT: Coffee from Eighty-Two Cafe
WHEN: All Day
WHERE: Royer Farm, Outside Visitors Center
Grab a cup of deliciousness from Eighty-Two Cafe as you explore all that Renfrew has to offer on Opening Day. Their artisan coffee is roasted and prepared locally in their store at 82 Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg, PA. Visit their trailer located outside the Visitors Center for hand-crafted, made-to-order beverages.

WHEN: All Day
WHERE: Royer Farm, Outside Visitors Center
Hungry? Find something tasty to hit the spot at the Dog and Tags Hotdog Cart. Serving hotdogs, sausages, cold soda, water, and more their selection and friendly service is sure to please. Visit the cart located outside the Visitors Center throughout the day.
